Mitsubishi announced it will have a new 100% electric compact SUV, with production expected still this year.

The model will be based on the Foxtron Model B, a concept created by the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina. Manufacturing will take place in Taiwan by Foxtron, a joint venture between Yulon Motor and Foxconn, the latter famous for assembling iPhones for Apple.

The outsourced production strategy allows Mitsubishi to launch an electric car more quickly and economically, without the need to invest in adaptations at its own factories. It also facilitates the expansion of the brand’s portfolio in strategic regions such as Australia and New Zealand, where the new SUV will be launched starting in 2026. Europe, on the other hand, is currently not part of the plans.

The SUV’s design is expected to retain the general lines of the Model B concept, with a sleek body and angular rear. It measures 4.3 meters in length and has a 2.8-meter wheelbase, with an impressive aerodynamic coefficient of 0.26.

Inside, the style follows the Chinese minimalist standard, with a large central screen, a compact instrument panel, and digital mirrors with cameras.
